Meet Leah Genth ’23!

Hi! I'm from Baltimore, Maryland. Outside of the farm, I do a lot of biking and rock climbing and am working on a tropical rain forest ecology project. I also work at the Marsh Botanical Garden. Working at the YSFP has been one of my favorite parts of being at Yale!

What were some of important insights you were able to take away from academic discussions?
I learned a lot more than I knew before about the ways in which the food system is entangled with other systems of inequality and human abuse/welfare infringement that felt like it should be common knowledge, but isn’t.

What was most personally valuable to you about the internship?
Getting to be outside every day, getting to work with and get to know other people in the context of the farm, and getting to meet a lot of adults in different fields/discover the breadth of meaningful professions that there are related to agriculture.
