A little bit about Mao:
Mao majors in Global Affairs and History. Mao is from Osaka, Japan. She grew up in Malaysia, Japan, Spain, and Italy, but home has always been Osaka. She loves creating, eating, and thinking about food, and took a gap year in France to attend culinary school and work at Restaurant Gastronomique Georges Blanc. The people she met during her gap year taught her so much about different ways of life, ways of thinking, and values; after returning to Yale, she has continued to learn from the people around her. Her current food obsession is gazpacho, and her favorite vegetable is garlic. Other than cuisine and pastry, bachata also holds a dear spot in her heart, as does watercolor painting, writing, and photography.
