Meet Storm Lewis ’23!
Storm Lewis is a Master of Environmental Science Candidate at the Yale School of the Environment ’23 focusing on food sovereignty and climate mitigation for Black farmers. Prior to graduate school, Storm completed her Bachelor of Arts at Smith College. As a Posse Scholar and Mellon Mays Scholar, she conducted research examining the challenges preventing smallholder farmers from mitigating climate change in countries such as Malawi, Morocco, Ecuador, and the United States (U.S). She also worked with the Corbin Hill Food Project (CHFP) as the lead distribution site coordinator. She later established a custom greenhouse gas emissions calculator for Barstow’s Longview Farm. After graduation, Storm plans to continue her research and promote food sovereignty-based policy for marginalized farmers in the U.S.
