More about Daniel:
Daniel Blokh is a writer and filmmaker from Birmingham, Alabama. Growing up in a family of Soviet immigrants to the US, he became interested in his family's complex attitudes toward food, which were the result of historical trauma and poverty, yet rooted in thrift and sustainability. His research project will explore both the history and legacy of these attitudes, guided by the question: how did Soviet history, ideology, and politics contribute to Soviet citizens’ aversion to food waste, and how do these attitudes manifest themselves in post-Soviet communities today?
