A little more about Camden:
From Monterey, California, Camden learned about the farm when she became a Harvest leader at the end of her first year. Since then she has worked as a culinary events manager and one of the 2019 Lazarus summer interns. She's also led a trip of first years to Massaro Farm. The summer internship program gave Camden the opportunity to explore so many different aspects of the food system: managing the acre, engaging with academic readings about the food system, and going on field trips across Connecticut. During the school year catch her at knead 2 know, making vegan pies and sneaking bites of the mozzarella.
More about Camden’s summer internship:
Favorite Yale Farm crop:
Sungold tomatoes.
What were some of important insights you were able to take away from academic discussions? I started to question a lot of the ways that we look at the world in general and the ideas of wilderness, how food affects public health, and the history of indigenous and multi-crop farming.
What was most personally valuable to you about the internship?
It was good to get to know a group of Yale students who I hadn't met before! I learned so much academically and practically, both from the internship and talking to my colleagues. I loved spending time in the summer sun and being around plants and people.
