A little bit more about Alaina:
Alaina, a Washington native, developed her love for farming through her experiences at Yale. Her first trips to the Yale Farm were class tours and dye workshops, the latter of which appealed to her interest in the textile arts. The atmosphere of the farm and the kindness of the people who worked there drew her back for more, and she began at the YSFP as a summer intern in 2021. Her favorite part of working at the farm is the conversations—both the casual and the constructive—she has with the people there, and always leaves the farm feeling more fulfilled than when she arrived. Alaina’s academic interests lie at the intersections of gender, labor, community, and food. Her work at the farm provides embodied experiences that aid in contextualizing her academic work and expanding her ideas of what the world of food and agriculture could look like. Outside of the YSFP,  Alaina loves to explore her artistic hobbies, such as knitting and embroidery.
